Beyond and Behind

Much of the work shown on this website centres on printmaking, which has become the focus of my practice since 2020. I consider myself an artist who makes prints, rather than a printmaker by training, though I keep open the possibility of honing my printmaking skills under the guidance of others with greater experience and expertise. My practice over the years has incorporated many different materials and processes and it would be wrong to ignore those completely: drawing, photography, textile and 3D work. Slides below show just some of that earlier work, seemingly quite at odds with my current practice. Elements of this earlier work cannot fail to leech through eventually into my work in print making. The approach and pre-occupations remain the same: exploring the plasticity of materials and examining fully the process I am working in and with.
